The Human Bone Morphogenic Protein 5 (Hu BMP-5) ELISA quantitates Hu BMP-5 in human serum, plasma, or cell culture medium. The assay will exclusively recognize both natural and recombinant Hu BMP-5.
Principle of the method
The Human BMP-5 solid-phase sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) is designed to measure the amount of the target bound between a matched antibody pair. A target-specific antibody has been pre-coated in the wells of the supplied microplate. Samples, standards, or controls are then added into these wells and bind to the immobilized (capture) antibody. The sandwich is formed by the addition of the second (detector) antibody, a substrate solution is added that reacts with the enzyme-antibody-target complex to produce measurable signal. The intensity of this signal is directly proportional to the concentration of target present in the original specimen.
Rigorous validation
Each manufactured lot of this ELISA kit is quality tested for criteria such as sensitivity, specificity, precision, and lot-to-lot consistency. See manual for more information on validation.
RB3 (Stathmin-4), encoded by STMN4 gene, is a neuron-specific homologue of the SCG10/stathmin family proteins, possessing a unique N-terminal membrane-associated domain and the stathmin-like domain at the C terminus, which promotes microtubule (MT) catastrophe and/or tubulin sequestering. Stathmin is a ubiquitous cytosolic phosphoprotein, preferentially expressed in the nervous system, and described as a relay integrating diverse intracellular signaling pathways. RB3 is consistently up-regulated in differentiated neuroblastoma cells, and stable expression of transfected RB3 could induce differentiation, suggesting a role of RB3 during neuroblastoma differentiation. Moreover, increased RB3 is a unique response protein in the stathmin-related proteins following optical nerve axotomy and RB3 may be a critical target for neurodegenerative diseases.
