CaMKII alpha Antibody (13-7300) in WB

Western blot was performed using Anti-CaMKII alpha Monoclonal Antibody (Cba-2) (Product # 13-7300) and a band at ~50 kDa corresponding to CaMKII alpha was observed in Mouse Brain in comparison to other tissues which are reported to be negative. Tissue extracts (30 µg lysate) of Mouse Brain (Lane 1), Mouse Skeletal Muscle (Lane 2) and Mouse Heart (Lane 3) were electrophoresed using Novex® NuPAGE® 4-12% % Bis-Tris gel (Product # NP0322BOX). Resolved proteins were then transferred onto a nitrocellulose membrane (Product # IB23001) by iBlot® 2... View More {{ $ctrl.currentElement.advancedVerification.fullName }} validation info. View more

          Product Specific Information

This antibody is specific for alpha subunit of CaM Kinase II. No significant reactivity was seen with the B, B1, yB, dA, dB, and dC isoforms. The epitope is located in the regulatory domain.

          Target Information

CAMK2A (CaMKII alpha) is a serine/threonine kinase that regulates a number of cellular functions including neuronal processes, gene expression, carbohydrate metabolism, cytoskeletal function, and calcium homeostatsis. Autophosphorylation of threonine 286 in the presence of Ca2+ and calmodulin activates CAMK2A with the ability to switch from calmodulin-dependent to a calmodulin independent activity. CaMKII is an ubiquitously expressed serine/threonine protein kinase that is activated by Ca2+/calmodulin (CaM) binding and autophosphorylation and has been implicated in regulation of the cell cycle and transcription. It is involved in dendritic spine and synapse formation, neuronal plasticity and regulation of sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ transport in skeletal muscle. In neurons, plays an essential structural role in the reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton during plasticity by binding and bundling actin filaments in a kinase-independent manner.
