It is a protein that is primarily produced in the liver and is essential for the formation of stable blood clots. The gamma chain plays a crucial role in stabilizing the factor VIII molecule and protecting it from degradation. Deficiencies in the factor VIII gamma chain can lead to a rare bleeding disorder called hemophilia A.
