LRP1 Antibody — Antibody specificity was demonstrated by detection of differential basal expression of the target across cell lines tested owing to their inherent genetic constitution. Relative expression of LRP1 was observed among the breast cancer cell lines: MDA-MB 231, a cell model positive for LRP1 expression, in comparison to SK-BR-3, a negative cell model for LRP1 expression using Anti-LRP1 Recombinant Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody (Product # MA5-31959) in western blot. Relative expression was also observed across mouse tissues tested, where LRP1 is highly expressed in liver as compared to heart. {RE}

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The expression systems are developed by cloning in the specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Then, individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production. The advantages of using recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies include: better specificity and sensitivity, lot-to-lot consistency, animal origin-free formulations, and broader immunoreactivity to diverse targets due to larger rabbit immune repertoire.

Target Information

The protein encoded by this gene is an endocytic receptor involved in several cellular processes, including intracellular signaling, lipid homeostasis, and clearance of apoptotic cells. In addition, the encoded protein is necessary for the A2M-mediated clearance of secreted amyloid precursor protein and beta-amyloid, the main component of amyloid plaques found in Alzheimer patients. Expression of this gene decreases with age and has been found to be lower than controls in brain tissue from Alzheimer patients.
