The PA1-73141 antibody was raised against whole cell preparation of Legionella pneumophila; ATCC #33152.
Legionella is found in aquatic environments where its growth is supported by amoebae. In human infections, Legionella acts as an intracellular parasite and multiplies in alveolar macrophages. The genus Legionella contains 39 recognized species. The immunological diversity of Legionella is due to the existence of a variety of serogroups. Legionella pneumophila has the most with a total of 14 serogroups.
