Invitrogen
ELISA pair: MA5-33284 (capture) with MA5-33285 (conjugate). These antibodies do not cross react with: Ureaplasma urealyticum, Mycoplasma hominis or Mycoplasma genitalium.
Although they are the simplest and smallest self replicating bacteria, Mycoplasma infections tend to be persistent, difficult to detect, diagnose, and cure. Mycoplasmas are surface parasites of human respiratory and urogenital tracts. Mycoplasma pneumoniae is often the causative agent of community-acquired pneumonia. The affinity of the organism for respiratory epithelial cells and its ability to secrete hydrogen peroxide are a potent combination, leading to oxidative tissue damage.
