This antibody recognizes native and denatured mouse and human nidogen, and blocks binding of nidogen to laminin.
It has been successfully used in ELISA and Western blot applications.
The immunogen is a recombinant fragment corresponding to the G3 region of mouse nidogen produced in Fisher rat plus YB2/0 cells.
Basement membrane components play an important role in cell adhesion, locomotion, differentiation and embryonic compartmentalization. Although the precise composition and structure of basal laminae varies from tissue to tissue, as well as within the same tissue at different developmental stages, most mature basal laminae contain type IV collagen, laminins, heparan sulphate proteoglycans and entactin (or nidogen). Entactin is a sulfated glycoprotein that is widely distributed in basement membranes. It is tightly associated with laminin and also binds to collagen IV. Entactin probably has a role in cell-extracellular matrix interactions.
