Ral Guanine Nucleotide Dissociation Stimulator-Like 4 (RGL4) is a gene that encodes a member of the RalGDS family, which is involved in the regulation of the Ras signaling pathway. This gene is located on chromosome 22 and is highly expressed in various tissues, including the brain and reproductive organs. RGL4 is known to interact with RalA and RalB, small GTPases that play crucial roles in cellular processes such as vesicular trafficking, cytoskeleton dynamics, and cell proliferation. Studies have shown that the expression of RGL4 has significant implications in various cancers. For instance, low expression of RGL4 is associated with poor prognosis and increased immune infiltration in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). Conversely, overexpression of RGL4 has been correlated with resistance to Midostaurin in FLT3-ITD mutant acute myeloid leukemia (AML) samples. These findings highlight the gene's potential as a biomarker for prognosis and therapy response in certain cancers, making it a valuable target for further research and clinical applications.
