PA1-815 detects retinoid X receptor (RXR) beta from human and mouse cells as well as transfected human and mouse RXR beta.
PA1-815 has been successfully used in Western blot, immunoprecipitation and gel shift procedures. By Western blot, this antibody detects an ~50 kDa protein representing RXR beta from COS cells transfected with the human gene. Gel shift assays reveal supershifting of vitamin D receptor (VDR)/RXR beta/vitamin D receptor response element (VDRE) complexes when PA1-815 is preincubated with RXR beta prior to addition of VDR.
The PA1-815 immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues Q(190) K S D Q G V E G P G A T(202) of mouse RXR beta.
Recombinant human VDR (Cat. # RP-710) and human RXR beta (catalog # RP-812) proteins can be purchased separately for control experiments in Western blot, immunoprecipitation and gel shift procedures.
This gene encodes a member of the retinoid X receptor (RXR) family of nuclear receptors which are involved in mediating the effects of retinoic acid (RA). This receptor forms homodimers with the retinoic acid, thyroid hormone, and vitamin D receptors, increasing both DNA binding and transcriptional function on their respective response elements. The gene lies within the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II region on chromosome 6.
