PA1-729 detects rhodopsin from bovine and sheep retina samples. This antibody does not detect rhodopsin from ovine samples
PA1-729 has been successfully used in Western blot procedures. By Western blot, this antibody detects an ~36 kDa protein representing rhodopsin from bovine outer rod segment extracts.
The PA1-729 immunizing peptide (Cat. # PEP-174) corresponds to amino acid residues 338-348 from bovine rhodopsin. This peptide is available for use in neutralization and control experiments.
Visual pigments such as rhodopsin and porphyropsin are light-absorbing molecules that mediate vision. Rhodopsin consists of an apoprotein, opsin, covalently linked to 11-cis-retinal. This receptor is coupled to the activation of phospholipase C. Porphyropsin consists of opsin covalently linked to 11-cis 3,4-didehydroretinal.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
