          Rhodopsin Antibody (PA1-729) in WB

Western blot was performed using Anti-Rhodopsin Polyclonal Antibody (Product # PA1-729)and a 39 kDa band along with high molecular weight glycosylated forms corresponding to Rhodopsin were observed across all the tissues tested except Mouse Heart and Liver which are reported to be negative. Whole cell extracts (30 µg lysate) of Mouse Retina (Lane 1), Rat Retina (Lane 2), Rat Eye (Lane 3), Mouse Eye (Lane 4), Mouse Heart (Lane 5), and Mouse Liver (lane 6) were electrophoresed using NuPAGE™ 4-12% Bis-Tris Protein Gel (Product # NP0322BOX). Product Specific Information

PA1-729 detects rhodopsin from bovine and sheep retina samples. This antibody does not detect rhodopsin from ovine samples

PA1-729 has been successfully used in Western blot procedures. By Western blot, this antibody detects an ~36 kDa protein representing rhodopsin from bovine outer rod segment extracts.

The PA1-729 immunizing peptide (Cat. # PEP-174) corresponds to amino acid residues 338-348 from bovine rhodopsin. This peptide is available for use in neutralization and control experiments.

          Target Information

Visual pigments such as rhodopsin and porphyropsin are light-absorbing molecules that mediate vision. Rhodopsin consists of an apoprotein, opsin, covalently linked to 11-cis-retinal. This receptor is coupled to the activation of phospholipase C. Porphyropsin consists of opsin covalently linked to 11-cis 3,4-didehydroretinal.
