SLC26A5 Antibody (PA5-103158) in ICC/IF
Immunocytochemistry analysis of SLC26A5 in Hela cells. The samples were fixed with PFA and permeabilized in 0.1% Triton X-100, then blocked in 10% serum for 45 minutes at 25°C. Samples were incubated with SLC26A5 polyclonal antibody (Product # PA5-103158) and mouse anti-beta tubulin antibody for 1 hour at 37°C. An AlexaFluor594 conjugated goat anti-rabbit IgG(H+L) (Red) and an AlexaFluor488 conjugated goat anti-mouse IgG(H+L) (Green) were used as the secondary antibodies. The nuclear counter stain is DAPI (blue).

Target Information
SLC26A5 is a member of the SLC26A/SulP transporter family. SLC26A5 is specifically expressed in outer hair cells (OHCs) of the cochlea and is essential in auditory processing. Intracellular anions are thought to act as extrinsic voltage sensors, which bind to this protein and trigger the conformational changes required for rapid length changes in OHCs. Mutations in its gene have been associated with non-syndromic hearing loss.This gene is a member of the SLC26A/SulP transporter family. It encodes a protein that is specifically expressed in outer hair cells (OHCs) of the cochlea and is essential in auditory processing. Mutations in this gene have been associated with non-syndromic hearing loss. Alternate transcriptional splice variants, encoding different isoforms, have been characterized.
