Western blot analysis of SLC4A8 in extracts of various cell lines. Samples were incubated with SLC4A8 Polyclonal antibody (Product # PA5-120305) using a dilution of 1:1,000, followed by HRP Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG (H+L) at a dilution of 1:10,000. Lysates/proteins: 25 µg per lane. Blocking buffer: 3% nonfat dry milk in TBST. Detection: ECL Basic Kit. Exposure time: 1s.

Target Information
Mediates electroneutral sodium- and carbonate-dependent choride-HCO3(-) exchange with a Na(+):HCO3(-) stoichiometry of 2:1. Plays a major role in pH regulation in neurons. May be involved in cell pH regulation by transporting HCO3(-) from blood to cell. Enhanced expression in severe acid stress could be important for cell survival by mediating the influx of HCO3(-) into the cells. Also mediates lithium-dependent HCO3(-) cotransport. May be regulated by osmolarity.
