Immunofluorescent analysis of SREBP2 (green) showing staining in the cytoplasm of PC12 cells. Formalin-fixed cells were permeabilized with 0.1% Triton X-100 in TBS for 5-10 minutes and blocked with 3% BSA-PBS for 30 minutes at room temperature. Cells were probed with a SREBP2 polyclonal antibody (Product # PA1-338) in 3% BSA-PBS at a dilution of 1:100 and incubated overnight at 4 ºC in a humidified chamber. The PA1-338 immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues A(843) I S W L Q G D D A A V R S H(857) of rat SREBP 2. This sequence is identical in human and differs by 1 a.a. in mouse. PA1-338 immunizing peptide (Cat. # PEP-275) is available for use in neutralization and control experiments.

Target Information

This gene encodes a ubiquitously expressed transcription factor that controls cholesterol homeostasis by stimulating transcription of sterol-regulated genes. The encoded protein contains a basic helix-loop-helix-leucine zipper (bHLH-Zip) domain.
