Specificity: Human TMEM255B
The TMEM255B gene encodes a member of the transmembrane protein family, which are proteins that span biological membranes and have been suggested to have roles in cellular signaling and structure. TMEM255B has been studied for its expression in different cancer types, where it acts as a potential marker. Specifically, it has been observed in serous cystic neoplasms (SCNs) and other neoplasms, with a noteworthy frequency in gastric-type intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMNs) and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDACs). The expression of TMEM255B in these neoplasms indicates its potential as a diagnostic marker and may reflect its involvement in cancer biology. While its functions are still being elucidated, TMEM255B's role in cancer highlights its significance in tumor progression and potential as a target for further investigation.
