Antibody detects endogenous levels of total TRAF7.
TRAFs are signal transducers for members of TNFR superfamily. These are critically involved in activation of MAP3K family members involved in NF-kappaB and JNK activation and apoptosis. TRAF7, a novel 670 A. A protein, is a human homolog of mouse Traf7 andconsists of an N-terminal RING finger domain, central TRAF domain, a coiled-coil motif and 7 WD40 repeats at the C-terminus. It has E3-ubiquitin ligase activity for self-ubiquitination. TRAF7 specifically interacts with MEKK3 and mediates MEKK3-induced AP1 and CHOP activation and induces apoptosis through Caspase-independent pathways. It is a multifunctional protein involved in sumoylation and negative regulation of c-Myb, thereby regulating proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic cells.
