Zinc-finger proteins contain DNA-binding domains and have a wide variety of functions, most of which encompass some form of transcriptional activation or repression. The majority of zinc-finger proteins contain a Kruppeltype DNA binding domain and a KRAB domain, which is thought to interact with KAP1, thereby recruiting histone modifying proteins. ZNF460 (zinc finger protein 460), also known as HZF8 or ZNF272, is a 562 amino acid nuclear protein that is ubiquitously expressed at low levels and expressed at high levels in pancreas and liver. Belonging to the Krueppel C2 H2-type zinc-finger protein family, ZNF460 contains 11 C2 H2-type zinc fingers and a KRAB domain. Like other zinc-fingers, ZNF460 is also suggested to be involved in transcriptional regulation.
