This update is recommended to all users. 

Review the installation instructions before updating the software.

The software upgrade to KingFisher Apex Purification System can be executed either automatically or manually. Both methods are described below. Please note that the upgrade process will take approximately 60 minutes to complete. Please note that all user defined settings and protocols will stay the same and will not be modified by the upgrade.

IMPORTANT! Disconnect the instrument from BindIx Software and remove all external equipment from the USB ports before you install the software update.

IMPORTANT! Do not switch the instrument off during the software installation. The installation time depends on the software update. During the installation, the instrument may re-boot several times. The installation is complete when the Home screen re-opens.

In case there is an issue encountered during the upgrade process, please try again and if the issue is persistent please contact service. For service information, refer to Technical Support contact information found from the KingFisher Apex Purification System User Guide (MAN0018970).

The same processes apply to upgrading version 1.0.38.0 (demo version).

Automatic software upgrade is available if the instrument is connected to the Thermo Fisher Connect Platform. Refer to the KingFisher Apex Purification System User Guide (MAN0018970) for instructions about creating a connection to Thermo Fisher Connect Platform.

When KingFisher Apex has been connected to the Connect software, upgrade from v1.0.45.0 to v1.0.47.0 can be carried out with the following steps (please read the IMPORTANT! notices under the Software upgrade section above before continuing):

1. Connect KingFisher Apex to Connect and a prompt with available software updates appears
2. Select Update to install the new software version
   a. There will be a prompt asking if you want to start upgrade, select "yes"
   b. Upgrade should start automatically
   c. Wait for the upgrade to be completed (upgrade should take about 40 minutes plus the time needed to download the software upgrade file which is dependent on the connection speed). Please do not interrupt the process
   d. The system restarts when the upgrade is ready
3. Check that SW version is 1.0.47.0 after upgrade
    

If there is no connection to Connect available, KingFisher Apex v1.0.45.0 can be upgraded to v1.0.47.0 manually with the following steps (please read the IMPORTANT! notices under the Software upgrade section above before continuing):

1. Download the “0AB6_02CA_1.0.47.0.update” file to USB drive:
   a. Insert a fresh USB drive with at least 700 MB available space
   b. Navigate to the KingFisher Apex section on the website
   c. Right-click the “Download” link for Software Update
   d. Select “Save Link as”
   e. Select the USB Drive and press Save
   f. Wait for the download to finish
   
2. Insert USB drive into KingFisher Apex USB port
   a. There will be a prompt asking if you want to start upgrade, select “yes”
   b. Upgrade should start automatically
   c. Wait for the upgrade to be completed (upgrade should take about 40 minutes. Please do not interrupt the process.
   d. The system restarts when the upgrade is ready
   
3. Check that SW version is 1.0.47.0 after upgrade
