Highest antigen sequence indentity to the following orthologs: Mouse (21%), Rat (21%).
This recombinant protein control fragment may be used for blocking experiments with the corresponding antibody, PA5-52669. In IHC/ICC and WB experiments, we recommend a 100x molar excess of the protein fragment control based on the concentration and the molecular weight. Pre-incubate the antibody-protein control fragment mixture for 30 min at room temperature.
The BEND2 gene, located on chromosome Xp22.2, encodes a protein that is part of the BEN domain-containing family, which is implicated in chromatin organization and transcriptional regulation. BEND2 is critical in spermatogenesis, particularly in the meiotic phase of germ cell development. Knockout studies in male mice have shown that loss of BEND2 disrupts the transition from zygonema to pachynema, interferes with chromosomal synapsis, and impairs the repair of DNA double-strand breaks, ultimately causing infertility. Additionally, BEND2's interaction with chromatin-associated proteins suggests its role in the formation of transcription-repressor complexes, essential for proper gene expression regulation during meiosis.
