Highest antigen sequence indentity to the following orthologs: Mouse (87%), Rat (87%).
This recombinant protein control fragment may be used for blocking experiments with the corresponding antibody, PA5-51642. In IHC/ICC and WB experiments, we recommend a 100x molar excess of the protein fragment control based on the concentration and the molecular weight. Pre-incubate the antibody-protein control fragment mixture for 30 min at room temperature.
The EGFL6 gene encodes epidermal growth factor-like domain-containing protein 6, a member of the EGF-like repeat superfamily known for its roles in development and angiogenesis. EGFL6 is expressed at higher levels during embryonic development and has notable expression in various malignant tumors, highlighting its potential involvement in cancer progression. This secreted protein is pivotal in promoting tumor angiogenesis, influencing cancer cell migration and proliferation without affecting wound healing, making it a significant factor in tumor growth and metastasis. EGFL6 is also expressed in adipose tissues, and its role in adipose differentiation suggests it might link obesity to endometrial cancer risks. The protein impacts cellular activities such as cell adhesion, migration, and proliferation, contributing fundamentally to tumor dynamics. Consequently, EGFL6 is considered an attractive target for antibody-based therapies, with research evaluating its utility in cancer intervention strategies.
