Highest antigen sequence indentity to the following orthologs: Mouse (46%), Rat (46%).
This recombinant protein control fragment may be used for blocking experiments with the corresponding antibody, PA5-53641. In IHC/ICC and WB experiments, we recommend a 100x molar excess of the protein fragment control based on the concentration and the molecular weight. Pre-incubate the antibody-protein control fragment mixture for 30 min at room temperature.
The GIMAP8 gene, part of the GTPase of the Immunity-Associated Proteins (GIMAP) family, is located on chromosome 7q36.1. This gene encodes a protein that is predominantly expressed in immune cells, including T and B lymphocytes. GIMAP8 is involved in the regulation of lymphocyte survival and development, particularly during the early and late stages of T cell development in the thymus, as well as during B cell maturation. Studies have shown that GIMAP8 expression levels are significantly altered in various cancers, including breast and lung adenocarcinoma, where its upregulation in tumor tissues correlates with improved overall survival in specific cancer subtypes. This suggests a potential role for GIMAP8 in tumor immune surveillance and as a prognostic biomarker. Additionally, GIMAP8's functions appear essential but redundant enough that mouse models deficient in this gene do not exhibit major defects in T or B cell development, indicating compensation by other family members.
