Highest antigen sequence indentity to the following orthologs: Mouse (90%), Rat (90%).
This recombinant protein control fragment may be used for blocking experiments with the corresponding antibody, PA5-64388. In IHC/ICC and WB experiments, we recommend a 100x molar excess of the protein fragment control based on the concentration and the molecular weight. Pre-incubate the antibody-protein control fragment mixture for 30 min at room temperature.
Iron regulatory protein 2 (IRP2) is a central post-transcriptional regulator of cellular and systemic iron metabolism. It is a cytosolic RNA-binding protein that binds to stem-loop structures. IRP2 is regulated by iron-mediated proteolysis. Hypoxia is important for normal tissue physiology as well as being a component of several pathophysiological conditions, including heart and cerebrovascular diseases and tumor growth. Because iron and oxygen are closely related, IRP2 also plays a role during hypoxia (low oxygen).
