Highest antigen sequence indentity to the following orthologs: Mouse (90%), Rat (90%).
This recombinant protein control fragment may be used for blocking experiments with the corresponding antibody, PA5-57300. In IHC/ICC and WB experiments, we recommend a 100x molar excess of the protein fragment control based on the concentration and the molecular weight. Pre-incubate the antibody-protein control fragment mixture for 30 min at room temperature.
The TRANK1 gene encodes the tetratricopeptide repeat and ankyrin repeat containing 1 protein, which has been associated with neurodevelopmental and psychiatric conditions, particularly bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Located on chromosome 9, this gene contains both tetratricopeptide repeats and ankyrin repeats, which contribute to protein-protein interactions and structural stability. TRANK1 is thought to possibly participate in cellular functions related to brain development and synaptic transmission, impacting neuronal signaling and cognitive processes. Genetic studies have identified variations in the TRANK1 gene that may alter its expression, influencing susceptibility to bipolar disorder by modulating pathways related to neurotransmitter regulation and neuroplasticity. The specific mechanisms by which TRANK1 influences psychiatric disorders remain under investigation, but it is hypothesized that TRANK1's interaction with other proteins involved in signal transduction could be pivotal. Given its potential linkage to complex neurological disorders, TRANK1 serves as a significant focal point for studies aiming to understand the genetic basis of these conditions and develop targeted interventions.
